Best Bits

House of Illustration is the UK’s first public gallery dedicated to illustration and graphic arts and home to the only permanent space dedicated to everyone’s favourite illustrator, Sir Quentin Blake. Their exhibitions this summer are perfect for getting kids inspired while their family workshops will help kids make their very own creations to take home.

In Marie Neurath: Picturing Science, discover how a little-known but hugely influential woman transformed children’s education by turning complicated grown-up science into clear and stylish visuals for everyone to understand. In Posy Simmonds: A Retrospective, explore pages and sketches from the comic artist’s much-loved children’s books, including Fred and Matilda, alongside graphic novels like Tamara Drewe suitable for teens and above. And of course don’t miss Quentin Blake: From the Studio, featuring a rotating selection of projects Sir Quentin is working on right now. Don't forget to check out the fantastic family workshops too – there are all kinds of fun topics from poster-making to comic-creating, plus special sessions for under-5s and Deaf families.
